Christmas is almost upon us and I’m excited about the wonderful food that will be prepared for the day.
I just had a roast dinner so instead of making popcorn for The Apprentice Finale, as I was full, I decided to make mulled wine. I was very unprepared as I didn’t even have cinnamon sticks and ideally wanted to make a non-alcoholic version but couldn’t be bothered to get my juicer out to juice some apples 😝.
Therefore, this isn’t a candida-diet friendly as it has alcohol and an apple (these get introduced in Stage 5 of the Candida Diet). However, it is sugar-free. Happy Days 😊.
I might tweak the recipe later as I found it too tangy. Perhaps it’s because I haven’t eaten fruit much in the last couple of months. I also fancy some ginger in it. I’ll definitely do an updated recipe of what I make on the day.
Ingredients
1/2 a bottle of rose
1 apple, sliced
1 lemon, sliced
2 star anise
3 cloves
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
40g xylitol

Instructions
Place all the ingredients in a pan and heat up on medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes. Make sure it doesn’t boil.
Pour through a strainer into a mug and add a slice of apple or lemon as a garnish.
Voilà. Merry Christmas jewels. Enjoy!
